Candid 

The Foundation Center was a great resource, so am hopeful that Candid, a recent merger The Foundation Center and Guidestar, is equally noteworthy. Candid is a clearinghouse of information on foundations, corporate giving, nonprofits and related subjects serving nonprofits, grantseekers, grantmakers, researchers, policymakers, the media, and the general public.

Find volunteer opportunities posted by local nonprofit and public sector organizations nationally and internationally.

Municipal Volunteer Centers 

Many municipalities have volunteer centers that help link up citizens with civic groups in need of volunteers. Do a web search of “volunteer center” and your location to find one near you.

The Tides Center (San Francisco)

Serves as a bridge between funders and projects by providing a wide range of services including financial management, human resources management, grants and  contract administration and project management while encouraging projects to focus on their programmatic work. Gives 501c3 status to projects that are not already established as nonprofits.
